The guide
Tables, strikethrough, task lists, autolinked URLs, footnotes and fenced code blocks with language hints all render correctly, because the engine used is the same one GitHub relies on. Syntax highlighting classes are emitted but no highlighter is bundled, so you can attach whichever library your project already uses without risking a conflict or bloating this page.
Markdown allows raw HTML to pass straight through, which means a document containing `<script>alert(1)</script>` would produce HTML that executes. Anyone sending you a markdown file you then convert and publish is a stored-XSS vector. Every piece of output here is filtered to a safe allowlist, stripping script tags, event handlers such as `onclick`, `javascript:` URLs, and iframes. The same protection that makes the live preview safe to render is what makes the downloaded file safe to publish.
The download produces a complete standalone document: a doctype, viewport meta tag, and embedded styles that make it look right immediately with no external stylesheet. That is ideal for emailing, opening in a browser, or dropping into a CMS. If you only want the inner HTML fragment, copy it from the output panel instead — it excludes the document shell entirely.
